WOW! Stumbled across this fantastic site after having been diverted due to a farm fire and what a site it is. Leanne and Caz offer an extremely warm and friendly welcome where nothing is too much trouble. They are the 'Dream Team' and are an adorable couple working so hard to make a success of running this wonderful campsite whilst juggling family life.
The eco campsite has been crafted by Caz who has created eco showers with beautifully hot water to wash away the sand and salt of a beach day and eco washing up stations where the washing up liquid etc is provided. The couple pride themselves on a tidy, clean site where the grass is kept mown and the portaloos are the cleanest i've ever encountered. Raised firepits are allowed on site so you can spend the evening toasting your toes while enjoying the far reaching ocean views and incredible sunsets. There is also the added bonus of the breakfast van offering local, organic (and very tasty) breakfast rolls, tea, coffee, juices etc, all very reasonably priced...what's not to like?
BLUE LAGOON at sunset
The site is perfectly situated just a short walk away, and I mean, short walk away from the very popular 'Blue Lagoon. It sits just up the hill from Abereiddy Beach which is a quaint, unspoilt beach with one road in and one road out, not that you'll need to drive from this site. We enjoyed scenic cliff top walks with the most spectacular views and little coves to explore, like the almost deserted, Trellwyn beach, only accessible from the coastal path and down 126 steps but well worth the effort. It's the perfect cove to spot dolphins and seals basking on the sun kissed rocks.
Just a 40 minute walk (or 5 minute drive by the lovely Leanne) from the site and along the coastal path is Porthgain. The views of the crystal clear ocean and superb sunsets (on the way back) are simply unrivalled. This cute fishing harbour, Porthgain, is home to The Sloop Inn, a wonderful traditional fishermans pub (buikt 1743) which offers the most relaxed atmosphere, with friendly staff, great food and cold beer. It's a sun trap though so don't forget your sun cream as you relax out front soaking up not only the sun but also the atmosphere that IS 'The Sloop Inn'.
LOVED this site with its perfect positioning. Well done to Caz and Leanne, your site was perfect for us...we'll most DEFINITELY be back.
