CUMBRIA - Rydal Water Caves

Another quick trip up to the Lake District...can't seem to get enough of the place. Who can blame me. A gorgeous walk around Rydal Water, near Ambleside, and a slow but successful hike up to Loughrigg Fell to test my knee...which now works (to a fashion)...HOORAY.

There is parking at White Moss which is fairly pricey and quite small so get there early to guarantee a space. From the car park, the lake walk is well signed with an obvious path to follow/ There is the option to follow either the circular lake walk, the Rydal caves walk or you can take the path to nearby Grassmere. We followed the path up to the caves then walked on up to the trig point at Loughrigg Fell. It's not far and from the top, the views of Rydal Water, Grassmere and the surrounding Fells and mountains are incredible. Just a quick word of advice, if you take the circular lake walk you will end the walk along the roadside, so not adviseable with younger children i'd say.

The caves are well worth the visit. The stepping stones were exposed when we went , meaning that we were able to enter and walk to the back of the cave. This may not be the case during the winter or following heavy rainfall. just a little something to consider.

This is a fabulous walk for any ability., with the beginning of the path suitable for wheelchair users...highly recommended.

LOVING THE LAKES!
