Island Jewellery

There's nothing quite like crossing a body of water to really make you feel like you're on an adventure.

A friend from the Isle of Wight has arranged a jewellery making course to celebrate her birthday, so I'm taking Berty and Little Blue across the Solent for our next exciting escapade to meet with Han and Nic. We're staying with Hannah at her mum's house for a night, where we are always warmly welcomed...thank you Rhoda, and then sleeping in Blue for a night.

Loved the course, it was fab. a whole day of being creative in the company of good friends with so much laughter. The course was well run with clear and easy to follow instructions and a very patient, supportive tutor (she needed to be to put up with us). If you fancy dabbling in a spot of jewellery making I would definitely recommend this place. It's a great course, in a great setting, on a holiday island...what's not to like?

I was so pleased with the necklace I made for Berty. She loved it...or at least she said she did. She's wearing it so it can't be that bad...can it?

TIME TO EXPLORE

If you've never been to the Isle of Wight, then you've missed a trick. It really is stunning and seems to have its own little micro climate. Whenever I've been over to visit, the summer seems consistently warmer than the mainland with far less rain and that's got to be a plus. It's quaint and largely unspoilt with some beautiful beaches and is well worth a visit. The island is fairly small and it can take as little as 3 hours to drive around. What better way to explore than to drive, with the windows down, bracing wind in our hair, singing at the top of our lungs whilst taking in the magnificent views and beaches. Mother and daughter time, making memories...priceless!

Stopped at Alum Bay for fish and chips (there're a lot of fish and chips in my posts), snuggled in Little Blue for the evening, sheltering from the wind and rain with a hot chocolate and the sounds of the waves crashing over the rocks. It's a bit on the chilly side though...think we're going to need to consider some form of heating going forward into winter...watch this space!

WHATEVER THE WEATHER, YOU'RE ALWAYS PREPARED IN A CAMPER VAN.
