ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END!
Woke up on our final morning to the most beautiful morning mist over Loch Lomond and felt truly blessed at having been gifted this gorgeous scene by nature.
One last morning exploring the banks of the Loch and chilling at the waters edge, skimming stones before leaving this spectacular land for home.
Mixed emotions this morning, we are all so sad as we near the end of our adventure but are all exhausted in equal measure. Quite remarkably, considering the limited space and having to live in such close proximity, there have been no cross words. So it looks like the fight over who gets the first long, hot, soapy bath/shower will be the first in weeks.
Scotland, you have done yourself proud. You have blessed us with unprecedented weather, your stunning beaches have rivalled many I have seen across the world, your spectacular highlands and plentiful wildlife have truly wowed us...your mountain nearly broke me!!!...and the hospitality and kindness of your people is frankly humbling.
ON REFLECTION
This is my advice when embarking upon a road trip. When you plan, you see what you plan to see which can be quite limiting.
When you go, go with an open mind, go with ideas, go with the flow and you will see what you see rather than what you came to see.
Each place has so much more to offer than any well laid plan allows you to experience. Explore, take a turn off the beaten track, you never know where it may lead you, there is something to surprise you around almost every corner.
THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO DISCOVER...GO WHERE THE ROAD TAKES YOU...this one is taking us home.
Next blog...What have I been reading along the way?
