SCOTLAND, WE'VE ARRIVED!
EDINBURGH,,,WOW...WHAT A CITY!
Arrived at the campsite, Mortonhall Caravan and Camping Park, early and the beauty of this particular site is that it's just a short bus ride away from the heart of the city...and what a city it is.
First stop, hook up with Jamie, one of Joe's old UNI pals for a quick drink and some invaluable local knowledge before parting ways. The boys are way overdue a catch up and Chris and I need to discover Edinburgh at its finest. With bright skies and beautiful warm sunshine, the day is perfect for exploring.
EDINBURGH IN SNAPSHOTS
Edinburgh truly is a beautiful city with so much to offer and we did loads:
Victoria Street - The city's most photographed street. Not surprised with its beautiful coloured houses. This is where you'll also find lots of Harry Potter regalia as it is thought that J.K.Rowling was inspired by Edinburghs streets and gothic architecture when writing her novels.
Arthur's Seat - Well worth the climb for the most amazing panoramic views of the city and beyond.
The Castle - obviously!, The gorgeous views from the grounds give a real sense of the city.
The Queens Gallery, - There was lots of activity when we were there as The Duke of Edinburgh awards were being hosted.
Gothic Architecture - A plenty. Everywhere you look there is the most incredible gothic inspired architecture. It really is a city of wonder.
Carlton Hill - Don't miss the absolutely incredible sunset just a short walk from the hustle and bustle, through a park and up to Carlton Hill. The sky was truly ablaze, beautiful sight over the city.
And we obviously visited few local bars and restaurants for some incredible dishes.- goes without saying. WHAT A DAY! We will DEFINITELY be back.
Everything is so easily accessible by foot that we walked everywhere but i'm told that public transport is fab and reasonably priced if you choose to use it.
My advise is to put Edinburgh on your wish list...NOW!
