COVID STRIKES AGAIN!...with so many extra costs to travel abroad, we decided to postpone our family trip to Gibraltar...for the second time!...choosing instead to staycation in good old U.K.
We had a blast of a week, managing to pack in loads of mini trips while making more precious, priceless memories together and got Little Blue out on the road again...win, win!
MANIC LONDON - for a few days. We drove up in Little Blue but booked a hotel stay as too many of us for van sleepovers (big difference between cosy and cramped). We did so much: Covent Garden, Phoenix Gardens, Notting Hill, Portobello Road, London Eye, Sky Garden, Embankment, Camden Market, Trafalgar Square, China Town (yum!), and had the best time. There really is so much to see and do in this great capital city. Exhausting but fun and we were definitely ready for a complete change of pace in the Brecon Beacons.
FOUR WATERFALLS - A gorgeous area in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. The four waterfalls walk is a 6 mile circular walk which takes in...guess what?...yep...four waterfalls! Its a stunning multi level walk through beautiful woodland and on a hot day there is plenty of opportunity for a swim or a dip. There is also the opportunity to walk behind the largest and there are suitable spots to jump from the waterfalls into the plunge pools below. Can't beat cold water to make you feel alive...and it was COLD!
POOLE & STUDLAND - A beautiful 12 mile walk at the waters edge from Poole to stunning Studland and back via the passenger ferry (£1.00 return). Had a fab, socially distanced pub garden lunch at the Bankes Arms (gorgeous sea views) and a fish 'n' chip supper with Little Blue on our return. There's nothing like a good old fish 'n' chip supper to really make you feel like you're on holiday. We did an overnight park up on the side of the road about a 30-40 minute walk from the beach. This was the closest to the beach we could find for free.
CLEVEDON MARINE LAKE - Took Little Blue down to Clevedon for a refreshing (freezing) swim in the infamous marine lake, a play about on the pebbly beach and a few 'arty farty' sunset pics.
KEWSTOKE - A trip down to Kewstoke beach to enjoy a tuna salad in Little Blue and watch the awesome sky at the death of the day.
We really did have the most amazing week...who needs abroad when there is so much to explore and enjoy on our doorstep. Watch this space for more U.K. trips.
