WHEN YOU MAKE IT REAL IT'S NO LONGER A DREAM!
The most exciting trip...the first trip...the recce trip. Every van and their owner need a recce, not only to learn how NOT to bunny hop down the road (embarrassing!) but also to get to grips with the available space and how and where to store everything.
AND WE'RE OFF!
Picked up Little Blue on a Saturday and unable to contain the excitement, we were off to Poole, not far from us on the south coast, first thing on Sunday morning. I simply couldn't wait to get properly acquainted and I can honestly say it was one of the most exciting trips iv'e ever taken (bold statement considering iv'e travelled half way around the world!).
I chose a site with electric hook-up (there are loads in Poole) for Little Blue's first stay with us. Not only to check that the hook-up worked but also, having never owned a camper before I admit I was slightly nervous of the leisure battery. I felt it made sense for me to try out the leisure battery when I had another source of power as a back up. Also, as the toilet blocks were not open due to Covid, we had no other option but to use the portaloo which was not actually as bad as expected and certainly a more pleasurable experience than festival loos (what wouldn't be?)
We had such a fab time of firsts...first van cooked meal, first cosy evening, first pop top sleepover, first rock and roll bed sleepover (yes... we tried both!), first exciting trip in Little Blue. A successful recce, we learned so much by trying everything out and Little blue was every bit as amazing as I had imagined. In fact, I fell in love with her a little bit more (who knew that was possible?). She was everything I expected and more. MOST importantly, Chris, who has ALWAYS resisted my dream, also fell in love with the freedom Little Blue affords...BIG WIN = HAPPY DAYS!
Q. Did Chris want a van? A. NO
Q. Does he now love it? A, ABSOLUTELY
Looooong Do's & Don'ts list follows in next blog so don't miss it!
THERE'S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT TO BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY!
